Situated in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh at an average elevation of 2400 meters this place is no less than a paradise. It was established by British governor Lord Dalhousie who situated his summer retreat here. It is situated on 5 main mountain peaks with most of them being snow covered and buildings designed in Scottish and Victorian style of architecture. Chamba is the ancient capital of this kingdom with more than 80 ancient temples.

Try and walk the place out starting from Jandrighat which is a 2.5 km walk from Gandhi Chowk till the home of former ruler of Chamba. Panch Pula is a beautiful and scenic place famous for gushing streams. Great freedom fighter Sardar Ajith Singh rests in peace here. Dainkund is the highest peak of Dalhousie which provides an excellent view of whole town. Air Force base and ancient temple of Pholani Devi is situated at the peak.

Subhash Baoli is a perennial spring dedicated to late freedom fighter that is believed to have stayed here and rejuvenated the medicated water of this spring. Khajjiar is called mini Switzerland of India because of its natural beauty and amazing places of interests there. There are two main churches here mainly at Gandhi Chowk and Shubhash Chowk having colorful birds and rabbits as a feast for eyes of visitors.

Kala Top is a wildlife sanctuary here with scenic beauty and wildlife well preserved with nature. You can spot many wild animals here and it is a great picnic spot too. Christmas is celebrated with Great Spirit here, whole week parties are conducted and snow games are played and competitions are set to boost up the festival spirit of the town.
