Departure to Haridwar ( 205 kms. / 7 hrs. Night Journey )

Day 2 : 5:00 AM - Srinagar

Arrival at Haridwar. After fresh up in choultry & breakfast. Proceed to Rishikesh ( 24 kms. ) . Visit Shivananda Ashram, Ram Jhoola, Swarg Ashram, Geeta Ashram, Lakshman Jhoola. After lunch drive to Srinagar ( 105 kms. / 4 hrs. ) .

Day 3 : 8:00 AM - Rampur

After Breakfast, depart from Srinagar to Dharee Devi Temple - Kaliya Saur ( 15 Kms ) . Later proceed to Rudraprayag ( 35 Kms ) , view the confluence point of 2 Holy rivers - Alaknanda and Mandakini. Drive to Okhimat ( 42 Kms ) , visit Shri Omkareshwar Temple ( This is the place where the Pooja is performed for 6 months while the Kedarnath Shrine is closed ) . Later drive to Gupta Kashi ( 10 Kms ) , visit Shri Kashi Viswanath Temple ( Arthanariswar Temple ) and further to Rampur ( 24 Kms ) , check into Hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight Stay

Day 4 : 8:00 AM - Rampur

Depart to Gaurikund 12 Kms. And then proceed to Kedarnath ( 19 Kms. ) by pony. After performing Pooja & Darshan of Shri Kedarnath ji return to Gaurikund and then to Rampur by Coach ( 12 Kms. ) Overnight stay.

After breakfast, proceed to Triyuginarayan Temple ( 19 Kms - one way ) , the Holy place where Lord Shiva and Parvathi got married. Tourists will have to go there by local jeep. Later driver to Gaurikund to visit Gauri Mata Temple. Then drive to Rampur, on the way you may visit Mund Katiya Temple ( Ganesh Temple 3+3 kms. By trek ) . Tourist will have to trek for 500 mts. ( One side ) Which is a narrow route. Later return to Rampur. Evening visit Durga Temple at Rampur ( half a kilometer by trek ) . Overnight Stay.

The buses cannot ply /move in the places mentioned in the alternate tour itinerary. The passengers will have to hire jeeps /cars available locally, for which the cost will be approximately Rs.250/- to 500/- per head extra.

Day 5 : 6:00 AM - Badrinath

Departure to Badrinath ( 240 kms. / 12 hrs. ) . Upon arrival, check into hotel. Overnight Stay.

Day 6: 1:00 AM - Pipalkoti

Morning after darshan of Shri Badrinath ji, visit Mana Village, the last village before the Indo-Tibetan border. After lunch drive to Pipalkoti ( 79 kms. / 4 hrs. ) . Upon arrival, check into hotel. Overnight Stay

Day 7 : 5:00 AM - Night Journey

Departure to Haridwar ( 241 kms. / 10 hrs. ) . Have Holy bath in Ganges, and Aarati at the Ganges in the evening. After dinner, proceed to Delhi ( 205 Kms / 5 hrs. )

Day 8 : 4:00 AM - Arrival in Delhi.

NOTE: In case you are travelling by Helicopter/Walk/Pony/Doli, the return will be on the same day with night stay at Rampur. Those who are travelling by Pony/Doli ( 19 Kms. approx. each way ) , have to start the trek early in the morning of Day 4, so that you can come back on the same day.

For those who are not able to go or get the Registration for visiting Kedarnath, the alternative programme for Day 4 would be as follows:

Haridwar : Haridwar is an ancient pilgrimage site situated in the foothills of the shivalik range in Garhwali Himalayas. Haridwar is the place where the river Ganges enters the plain areas of north India after flowing 250 km from its origin Gurumukh ( Gangotri Glacier ) . And this gave the city an ancient name “Gangadwara”.

Haridwar is believed to be blessed by the presence of all three major Gods of Hindus namely Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar. Hence its often called the “Pathway to God”. During KumbhaMela, millions of pilgrims assemble in Haridwar to perform ritualistic holy bathing on the banks of the river Ganges. Dense forests and absolute clear water of river Ganges and the serene fold mountains at the background create the charming beauty of this holy city.

Rishikesh : This holy place is located at the foothills of the Himalayas. It is known as “The threshold to the Gharwal Mountains of the Great Himalayan Range”. Rishikesh is located north of holy city , Haridwar .Rishikesh is associated with Lord Rama and his brother Laxman. Legends state that Lord Rama did penance here for killing Ravana. Lakshman crossed the river Ganges, where the present 'LakshmanJhula' bridge stands today. Rishikesh is also a Gateway to the World Heritage site Valley of Flowers National Park - The 8th Wonder of the World & Char DhamYatra ( pilgrimage to Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath ) . It is believed that meditating here leads to attainment of nirvana. The sacred river Ganges flows through Rishikesh and leaves the Shivalik Mountains in the Himalayas, flowing out into the Indo-Gangetic plains.

Ram Jhula : Ram Jhula is an iron suspension bridge situated at Muni Ki Reti in Rishikesh. It connects Swargadham, Gita Bhawan and other temples and is situated 3 km north of Rishikesh. Built in the 1980s, over the Ganges to cross the river is also a landmark in the city. One can see much more commotion here than in Lakshman Jhula as there are more ashrams and temples near this bridge.

Lakshman Jhula : Lakshman Jhula is a 450 ft long cantilever bridge on the river Ganges in Rishikesh. LaxmanJhula which was once a jute rope bridge was reconstructed by RaiBahadurSherprashadTulshan and was opened to traffic in 1930.It is believed that Lord Ram’s younger brother Lakshman crossed River Ganges using a jute rope from here. And hence the bridge was named after him. This bridge gives you a very attractive scenic view of Rishikesh. View of the 13 storeyTrayambakeswar temple also called TeraManzil is located at the other end of the Laxmanhula is a treat to your eyes gives you a serene feeling.Lakshman Temple and Sachha Akhileswar Mahadev Temple are also one of the major attractions around Lakshman Jhula.. In the market, which is just a walk away from Laxmanjhula one can buy precious stones, religious items to paintings and statues of almost every deity in the Hindu pantheon.

Nandaprayag : Also spelt as NandPrayag is a town in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Nandaprayag is the second prayag in the cascade sequence of the confluences where the Nandakini River joins the main Alaknanda River. It is named after the king Nanda of the Yadava kingdom who performed “Yagnya” and sought blessings of God. Nandprayag is situated 18kms away from Karnaprayag.

Karanprayag : It is located where Pindar River joins Alaknanda River that originates from the Pindar glacier, below the Nanda Devi hill range. It is the third one of the PanchPrayag ( five confluences ) of Alaknanda River. Karanprayag is encircled by the lustrous snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas which fascinates the visitors. It is believed to be the place where Karna of the Mahabharata worshipped the Sun God for many years to acquire the kavach, which made him an unbeatable warrior. The stone seat where Karna did penance is seen here.

Jyotirmath : Jyotirmath also known as Joshimath is a city in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand. It is a starting point to several expeditions, trekking and various other pilgrim centres in the Himalayan mountain range. It is a home to one of the four cardinal pÄ«thas established by AdiShankara. According to AdiShankara, this math is in charge of the Atharvaveda. In the temple Narasimha, is enshrined Badrinarayan along with idols of other deities. It is believed that AdiSankara installed the presiding deity Lord Narasimha. It is one among the 108 temples of Vishnu popularly known as ”DivyaDesams”..

Pipalkoti : Pipalkoti is a small and scenic town situated at 17kms after Chamoli between Haridwar and Badrinath. Pipalkotiis a relaxation point for people traveling to Badrinath and scenic Valley of Flowers. Pipalkoti is pleasantly situated amidst lush green mountains and terraced fields and provides picturesque views of the mountains concealed by snow. This is a best place for relaxation and refreshments.

Rudraprayag : Rudraprayag is situated at the point of confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini. Rudraprayag lies on national highway NH58 that connects Delhi with Badrinathand Mana Pass in Uttarakhand near Indo-Tibet border. Rudranath Temple, Chamunda Devi Temple, Koteshwar cave temple, The Kartik Swami temple, Basukedar temple, an aesthetic place for meditation and dhyan yoga are situated in Rudraprayag.

Badrinath : Badrinath is the most important of the four sites in India's Char Dham pilgrimage and gets its name from the Holy temple of Badrinath. It lies on the banks of the Alaknanda River. Badrinath is serenely located between the Nar and Narayana mountain ranges at 9 km east of Nilkantha peak ( 6, 596m ) . Badrinath Temple is a sacred pilgrimage site for Vaishnavites. The idol of Lord Badrinarayan made of Saligram stone was discovered by AdiShankara.

GauriKund : GauriKund is a water body that is also known as the Lake of Compassion, lies on the way going downwards from Dolma - La ( Dolma Pass ) . It is a Hindu pilgrimage site and a base camp for trek to Kedarnath Temple, in Uttaranchal. It is connected with Shiva's wife Parvati, also known as Gauri. The lake is also famously called as “ParvatiSarovar” as this was the place where goddess Parvati had acquired her son Ganesha ( Elephant headed God ) .

Devprayag : Devprayag is the place where the rivers Bhagirathi and Alaknanda merge. Devprayag is concentrated by a number of sacred temples around namely the Mata Bhuvneshwari temple, DhaneshwarMahadev temple etc.

Kedarnath : Kedarnath is located near Chorabari Glacier, and is captivated by snow-capped peaks. Kedarnath has gained importance because of Kedarnath Temple. It is the most remote of the four Char Dham sites. The chief diety is Lord Shiva who is worshiped as Kedarnath, the 'Lord of KedarKhand', the historical name of the region. It is a popular destination for Hindu pilgrims from all over the world. The temple opens on AkshayaTritiya ( April end or first week of May ) and closes on BhaiDuj ( October end or 1st week of November ) due to heavy snowfall and extreme cold weather during winter. Rampur is a small place located on the way to Kedarnath where the pilgrims normally relax for the day.

Srinagar : Srinagar is the biggest town in Garhwal hills in PauriGarhwal district of Uttarakhand. It derives the name from Sri Yantra, an evil and mythical big rock. Srinagar came into limelight after becoming the capital of Garhwal Kingdom when King Ajay Pal by unifying the various chiefdoms founded the Garhwal kingdom. Srinagar is also an important tourist attraction for its natural beauty and several temples say KamaleshwarMahadev Temple and KikileshwarMahadev Temple.

Omkareshwar Temple : This temple is located in Ukimath which is at a distance of 41 km from Rudraprayag. During winter the UtsavDoli of Lord Kedarnath is brought from Kedarnath and poojas are performed. And poojas for Lord Omkareshwar are performed everyday. It acts as a central place for visiting different places located nearby, i.e. Madhmaheshwar ( Second kedar ) , Tungnathji ( Third kedar ) and Deoria Tal ( natural fresh water lake ) and many other picturesque places.

Triyuginarayan Temple : TriyuginarayanTemple is a Hindu temple located in the Triyuginarayan village in Rudraprayag district. Lord vishnu is the diety in this ancient temple. It is believed that the celestial wedding of Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvathi was formalized by Lord Vishnu. And thus it is a popular pilgrimage centre.

Gupta Kashi : Gupta Kashi means “hidden kashi” and is one of the six kashis. The principal god here is KasiVishwanath who is considered ruling the whole world. The famous, ancient Arthanareswar temple is found here where Lord Shiva is symbolized as half man and half women. It is believed to be the site where Shiva expressed his love to Parvathi Devi prior to their wedding in TriyuginarayanTemple .
